Absorbable Veterinary Sutures
Collection details
SutureVet's absorbable veterinary sutures are designed to provide temporary wound support during the critical healing period before being broken down and eliminated by the body's natural processes. Eliminating the need for suture removal, absorbable materials are the preferred choice for internal tissue layers, buried closures, and any application where a second procedure to remove sutures would be impractical or stressful for the patient.
Our absorbable range includes both synthetic absorbable materials — such as polyglactin 910, poliglecaprone, and polydioxanone — which degrade predictably through hydrolysis with well-characterised absorption timelines, and natural absorbable options such as chromic catgut for specific large animal and farm animal applications. Short, medium, and long-duration absorption profiles are available to match the healing timelines of different tissue types and species.
Available in monofilament and braided constructions across a full gauge range suitable for all veterinary species and procedure types — from fine ophthalmic and exotic species work to heavy-gauge large animal surgery. All products are supplied sterile and individually packaged from ISO-certified manufacturers trusted by veterinary surgeons across the UK.
